About This Blog

This blog is about my books (of course), but it's also about writing in general and the editing process. I love the puzzle of a novel, and I'm happy to share anything I know about editing and revising. Any questions? Leave them in the comment box or send me an email, and I'll address them as quickly as I can.

And So It Begins...

So I've written a book. Two books, actually, with a third started and numbers four and five on the drawing board. But don't let that fool you, because there are so many things that have to happen between wow-I'm-finished and book-for-sale. Like revisions, for instance. I love them, I hate them, and thankfully I'm almost done with them on book number one. And I am thankful, but also just ever so slightly terrified about phase two.

Phase two, of course, is taking said book and getting it published. In case anyone is wondering, yes I may begin querying the world of traditional publishers - but then again I may not. I'm not fully decided there (obviously), because the more I research the more I think that maybe - just maybe - I could come out ahead going the self-publishing route.

But still, there is so much to do! Can I just say cover design? Interior design? Proofreading? Proofreading again, and again, and again? Then there's the formatting to be done, and don't even mention the word pitch - short or long - because complex books are tricky to pitch and I'm really dreading that particular challenge (which frankly should have been done long, long ago.)

With all this frightening business in front of me, I have decided to set a goal for myself and I herby proclaim that by January 1st 2013, The Chronicles of Republic Book One, Flight, will be available through Amazon - even if it's only as an e-book at that time.

If you're interested in signing up for my forthcoming newsletter - which will notify you of the exact moment my book appears for sale on Amazon, for instance, along with who knows what other exciting information - please go back to my web page and subscribe! (I'm really hoping for at least three non-relative subscriptions by the time I actually have something newsy enough to report.)

Thanks!
